Key Questions of Tech Due Diligence for Investors & Advisers

Our involvement in investments is typically between seed and Series B, for which you’ll receive a clear written report: findings separated from opinion, the issues that matter ranked by impact, and a plain-English view of what each means for your decision.

How we fit into your process

Our role is not to advise on whether to invest, but to give clarity on what is technically true.

  • Does the target offer what it says?

    If a solution has already been built, can it deliver upon what it says it can, and demonstrate the results it promises?

  • Does the target have scope for scale?

    Does the solution have any inhibitors to growth, and does the target’s team capabilities align with the proposed next steps?

  • Does the target have defensibility?

    Is there any form of established moat or means of defensibility and protection, particularly in a world of AI, that protects the target?

  • Does the target take security seriously?

    Are resilience, data protection, governance, and security processes well considered and implemented into the target? Optionally, we can incorporate penetration testing into reporting.

  • What are the red flags?

    What are the key risks to the business and subsequently to your investment, that must be considered as part of the deal?

 

How we collaborate

Independent from start to finish

Our findings stand on their own. We don’t use due diligence as a route to selling our own delivery work, so what we report is never shaped by what might come next.

We won’t take on delivery work at a business we’ve assessed for twelve months after our report, unless its investors ask us to. We never assess a business in which we hold, or are negotiating, equity.

We assess technology and execution risk. We don’t give investment advice or make buy, sell, or hold recommendations.
